Searson

Celtic pop is a family affair for this Canadian combo, which gets its name from guitarist Mike Searson and his three step-dancing daughters, Erin, Heather and Colleen. (The Searson ladies sing and play instruments as well.) Fiddler/mandolinist/step-dancer Jamie Gardner rounds out the group, which produces a folky high-energy sound best described as a cross between the Cranberries and Shania Twain. The Searsons come to Culloden this weekend for the two-day Highland Games, along with Celtic rock band Seven Nations and singer-songwriter Eric Duncan, who was born in Scotland but now works as a joiner building yachts in Savannah.

Playing at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30 ; and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Culloden, located about 30 miles west of Macon near the intersection of Ga. 74 and Ga. 341. (478) 836-4267. Festival admission: $7 in advance, $9 at the gate for one-day pass; $13 in advance, $15 at the gate for two-day pass.
